If God is in complete control, do my choices really matter?
Deu 7:7 "The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples."
Deu 30:19 "I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants."
Job 34:4 "Let us choose for ourselves what is right; Let us know among ourselves what is good.
Fear the Lord; His wisdom will instruct your choice.
Choose God and His Righteousness!
Psa 25:12 "Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way he should choose."
God does not forget us in our choices; we forget God in our choices.
Zec 1:17 "Again, proclaim, saying, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, "My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and the LORD will again comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem."
Joh 6:70 Jesus answered them, "Did I Myself not choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is a devil?"
Our Jesus told us plainly:
Joh 15:16 "You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.
Jesus believes our choices matter; His complete control does not disappear among our choices.
Jam 2:5 Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?
God initiated; let's choose to believe our choices really matter.
Consider this scenerio:
I am a Christ follower and I choose to have a couple of drinks with my friends. Driving home I have an accident involving another motorist. I survive by the Grace of God, and I am not ticketed for DWI since my alcohol level is below legal definitions. The Officers determine it was not my fault, since there was no way I could have avoided hitting the other motorist, who pulled in front of me. Legally I am not at fault; my family and I breathe a sign of relief. The other motorist survived the accident, but the daughter in the passenger seat did not make it to the hospital before being pronouced DOA. The motorist did not know Jesus as His personal savior. Eternity is written for the motorist's 30 year old daughter.
Do you think your choices really matter? God really does believe they do! God has not left His throne; He was sitting on the throne observing your choices and judging the daughter's eternal destiny. God was right beside you in the car. God was in the car with the other motorist. God is ever present. God is intimate and personal. God is active. God is Truth. God does not leave us or forsake us. God did not leave or forsake the other motorist and the daughter. God is Sovereign. God is in complete control even if my choices are spinning out of control. May God continue to have Mercy on us.
Mar 13:20 "Unless the Lord had shortened those days, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom He chose, He shortened the days.
Eph 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love
Rom 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Yes, God is in complete control, and my choices really do matter. Choose God; Choose the Lord Jesus; and Choose the power of the Holy Spirit.

What happens when I die?
ANSWER: The essence of this question seems to be, do believers who die immediately go to be with the Lord or do they go into a state of slumber (unconscious waiting) or to a place that is not heaven -- purgatory or paradise -- to consciously wait before they go to heaven.

Question: What is the resurrection of the dead at the "last day"?
Answer: Scripture teaches that there will be a resurrection of the dead during the events of the second coming (1 Cor. 15:23, Phil 3:20-21) and the Final Judgment (John 5:28-29, Acts 24:15, Revelation 20:13-15).
The obvious question is how can the dead not be raised until the "last day" if they have already gone to heaven or hell immediately upon their death?
This resurrection focuses on the physical resurrection of the body. In other words, the soul resurrects immediately upon death and goes either to Heaven or Hell (see above answer), but on the final day the physical bodies of the dead will be resurrected. This point about the physical resurrection is clearly taught in 1 Corinthians 15 where we are told that the bodies we get at this resurrection (at Jesus' 2nd Coming v. 23) will share the identity of our old bodies, but be much better - "Our bodies now disappoint us, but when they are raised, they will be full of glory. They are weak now, but when they are raised, they will be full of power. They are natural human bodies now, but when they are raised, they will be spiritual bodies." 1 Cor 15:43-44 (NLT)
This may bring up a concern about what happens to our physical bodies after we die. If we need to use them again shouldn't we take great care to keep them in good condition? Fortunately, it appears that God is able to take disintegrated bodies and supernaturally raise them and transform them. I don't think Christians should be concerned about giving body parts to science or getting creamated. Afterall, even buried bodies eventually decompose.
There is a little disagreement about whether the bodies of unbelievers and believers will be raised at the same time. This depends on whether you believe the 2nd Coming of Jesus and the Final Judgment are at the same time or if there is a 1,000 year millinium in between. (Not going to explain the millinium here - it is a question for another time.) If the two events are at the same time the resurrection of all bodies will occur at once. If there is a gap between the Second Coming and the Final Judgment than the believers' bodies will resurrect at the Second Coming and the nonbelievers' bodies will resurrect at the Final Judgment.
